These Terms are entered into between you and Matchee Technologies Inc., an Ontario corporation ("Matchee," "we," "us," or "our").

Plain-Language Summary (Not Legally Binding)

This is a human-readable explanation of the terms. The legally binding version is below.

  • Matchee is an experimental app currently in alpha/beta testing in Canada. It may break, lose data, behave unpredictably, or change frequently.
  • You must be 18 or older to use the app. Your birthdate is required to verify this.
  • Matchee helps people meet new friends or potential dates by forming groups and suggesting event venues.
    Users—not Matchee—make the reservations and attend meetups at their own risk.
  • You are responsible for your conduct. Harassment, discrimination, threats, abuse, spam, or illegal activity are prohibited.
    Reporting someone will unmatch you and may result in account removal.
  • Messages and interactions may be analyzed automatically to improve matching quality and safety. Human review happens only when necessary for safety, quality, or troubleshooting.
  • Data is stored in Firebase (Google) and used to run the service. Your profile data, interests, and matching data are shared with other users only as needed to operate the experience.
  • Matchee may add subscription or paid features in the future.
  • Matchee may remove any user at any time and without notice, particularly during alpha/beta.
  • By using the app, you accept that all in-person meetups and interactions are at your own risk, and Matchee is not liable for anything that happens between users.

Legally Binding Terms & Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply to your use of Matchee ("the App"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the App.

You acknowledge this is an alpha/beta software test, offered on an as-is and as-available basis.

2. Eligibility

You must:

  • be 18 years of age or older, and
  • provide an accurate birthdate during onboarding.

Matchee does not knowingly allow minors to use the service.

3. Nature of the Service

Matchee is a social discovery and group-matching app that helps users meet new people. The App:

  • assembles small groups of users,
  • selects a proposed venue, date, and time,
  • generates a booking link (currently via OpenTable),
  • selects a user to make the reservation,
  • and provides in-app messaging.

Matchee does not organize, host, supervise, or monitor any in-person meetings or events.
Any meetups are user-organized, informal social interactions.

4. Booking Links & OpenTable Disclaimer

During alpha/beta:

  • The App generates a link to a third-party booking platform (e.g., OpenTable).
  • A designated user makes the reservation directly on the external platform.
  • The App does not access or verify booking confirmations and relies on the designated user to indicate completion.
  • Matchee is not affiliated with OpenTable or any venue shown.

Matchee is not responsible for:

  • reservations not being honored,
  • incorrect or failed bookings,
  • cancellations or modifications, or
  • any communication or transactions between you and third-party services.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • harass, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate against other users
  • send abusive, hateful, or illegal content in chats
  • impersonate others, create fake profiles, or use bots
  • use the service for commercial solicitation, sales, or marketing
  • attempt to access accounts, data, or systems without authorization
  • conduct yourself in an unsafe or harmful manner during meetups

Violations may result in immediate removal from the service.

6. Unmatching and Reporting

The App includes:

  • Unmatch: removes mutual connection and closes chats
  • Report User: unmatches and triggers manual review

Matchee may take any action it deems appropriate, including:

  • temporary suspension,
  • permanent removal, or
  • no action.

Matchee is not required to disclose investigation details or outcomes.

7. Safety & Risk Assumption

You understand and agree that:

  • Matchee does not vet, verify, or background-check users.
  • Matchee does not supervise or monitor in-person meetings.
  • You are solely responsible for your personal safety.
  • You meet other users at your own risk.

You release Matchee from any liability relating to:

  • your interactions with other users,
  • conduct of other users,
  • in-person meetups,
  • property damage, injuries, or harm of any kind.

8. Messaging & Content Processing

Matchee provides in-app direct messaging. You agree that:

  • Messages may be processed and analyzed automatically for safety, product improvement, and matching quality.
  • Human review may occur only when necessary to maintain the safety, quality, or operation of the service.
  • Messages may be stored indefinitely unless removed due to unmatch, block, report, or account deletion.

You must not send sensitive personal data you do not wish to share.

9. Data Collection & Privacy

Matchee requires certain permissions to operate effectively, including:

  • Location access (to determine city and user radius)
  • Spotify connection (to derive interest signals)
  • Calendar access (to extract interest patterns)
  • Profile photo and onboarding information
  • In-app DMs (stored in Firebase for messaging and matching)

Profile Information

Includes:
your name, age, pronouns, city, photo, basic bio, and interests.

Matching Information

Includes aggregated scores and traits used to match you to others, derived from:

  • your interactions in the app,
  • your interests,
  • communication patterns,
  • inferred compatibility signals.

Matchee does not share underlying raw data from Spotify, Calendar, or DM analysis with other users.

Storage

All personal data, profile information, messages, and matching information are stored in Firebase (Google).

Use of Firebase is subject to Google's terms and policies.

10. Notifications

The App uses iOS system permissions for push notifications.
By enabling notifications, you agree to receive:

  • event reminders,
  • booking status prompts,
  • new messages and system alerts,
  • product updates.

You can disable notifications via iOS settings.

11. Subscriptions and Future Fees

Matchee may introduce paid subscriptions or other paid features in the future.

By using the App during alpha/beta, you acknowledge:

  • prices or features may change before full release,
  • access during alpha/beta does not guarantee free access later.

12. Alpha/Beta Disclaimer

Because Matchee is in alpha/beta testing:

  • features may change or break without warning,
  • data may be lost, corrupted, or inaccurate,
  • service uptime is not guaranteed,
  • bugs, crashes, and errors may occur,
  • experimental features may be turned on/off without notice.

You use the App entirely at your own risk.

13. Termination

Matchee may suspend or delete your account:

  • at any time,
  • without notice,
  • for any or no reason,
  • without explanation,
  • and without data recovery obligations.

14. Intellectual Property

You grant Matchee a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use your profile photo, bio, and any content you submit solely for the purpose of operating the service, including:

  • displaying your profile to other users,
  • forming event groups,
  • enabling matches and messaging.

You retain all ownership rights to your content.

15. Third-Party Services

The App may link to or rely on third-party platforms (e.g., OpenTable).
Matchee is not responsible for:

  • third-party content,
  • reservation outcomes,
  • external service failures,
  • privacy practices of third-party platforms.

16. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario law:

  • the App is provided "as is" and "as available"
  • Matchee disclaims all warranties, express or implied
  • Matchee is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Matchee is not liable for the conduct, actions, or omissions of users or third parties
  • Matchee is not liable for any events, meetups, injuries, property loss, or harm resulting from interactions between users

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the App is to stop using it.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed exclusively by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.

Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in Ontario.

18. Changes to Terms

Matchee may update these Terms at any time.
Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
